Secure Your Load! It's the Law.

When bringing disposal/recycling items to any County facility, by law, you must secure your load.

​Why does California State Vehicle Code require loads be properly covered or secured?

    • Unlawful
    • Unsightly
    • Dangerous To Other Drivers 
    • Ends Up In Local Waterways
    • Harms Wildlife 
    • Contaminates Our Environment ​

Violations can result in fines for both unsecured loads and littering 

  • CA State Vehicle Code Sections 23114.(a), 23115.(a) and CA Penal Code 374.3(a-j)

  • Put lighter weight items at the bottom
  • Use tarps, straps, rope, bungee cords, nets
  • Tie larger items directly to your vehicle
  • Don’t overload your vehicle

Remember! Unsecured loads are also subject to $25 fee

Prevent littering on site! Do not remove tarps until reaching the tipping area.
