Businesses that produce less than 220 pounds (approximately 27 gallons) of hazardous waste or 2.2 pounds of extremely hazardous waste per month are classified as a Very Small Quantity Generator (VSQG).
Hazardous Waste Drop-off for VSQG Businesses
To properly dispose of hazard waste, VSQGs must make an appointment in advance by calling (916) 876-9458 and pay a VSQG fee, depending upon the material type. VSQG Permit
VSQGs are required to obtain a waste generation permit from the Environmental Management Department (EMD) at 916-875-8550 or cupapermit@saccounty.gov, and apply for an EPA ID number from the CA Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) to dispose of the waste.
