Upcoming Board Consideration of Proposed Residential Solid Waste Rate Adjustments

Scheduled Board of Supervisors Meeting: September 22, 2026

The Department of Waste Management & Recycling (DWMR) will present a five-year schedule of proposed residential solid waste rate adjustments to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors on September 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. (Note: Item presentation times may shift due to earlier agenda items).

At this meeting, the Board will consider recommended actions to:

Adopt a resolution approving the 2026 Solid Waste Rate Study

Authorize DWMR to proceed with Proposition 218 notification and protest process required to seek residential solid waste utility rate increases effective January 1, 2027

Related Item on the September 22 Agenda

Separate from the residential rate proposal, the Board will also consider proposed adjustments to facility fees at Kiefer Landfill and the North Area Recovery Station (NARS).  Facility fee information is available on the Facility Fees webpage.

The facility fee adjustments as well as proposed updates to the Lifeline Rate Assistance Program, are independent of the residential rate proposal and are not subject to Proposition 218 requirements.
